Happy New Year all.

Nineday is the close of week zero and a good time for summaries and resoultions:

This year was a trial; the second part of a lesson about Work and Love that began in 2005.

  1. - An unsuccessful experiment at returning to school. Later, a more successful attempt at returning to school. I really do enjoy school, and learning, and the life of the mind. As long as I can keep it sustainable, I see no reason why I should not hold to this and take at least a couple classes a year. I am, and am proud to be, a perpetual student.
  2. - A relationship rises and falls. Therein, if I may be so bold to say, two people who wanted two deeply worthwhile, sometimes similar, but subtly and seriously different things from a relationship tried to get them from each other and squeezed both themselves and each-other to fit. This remains one of the most illuminating experiences of my life. Thank you.
  3. - Forays into intimacy, sexuality and altered states of consciousness: fascinating, good, great, disturbing and horrifying.
  4. - Sorting out what I love to do and what makes me happy, aided by frank conversations, a fine government program, and time to reflect.
  5. - I've lived in one place for a year. It has its advantages, and its shortcomings.
  6. - Despite what Meng Tzu might say, in refusing shame, I have become a more moral person.
  7. - Despite the claims of many neoplatonic thinkers, in refusing logic, I have seen more truth.
  8. - Mostly fixed my sleep schedule. Disrupts social life a bit. Also, I'm often up before neighbourhood businesses open.
  9. - Improved my eating and consumption habits, saved money and lost weight, all at the same time. A good path.
10. - Resolved many health issues
11. - Almost forgot: gender issues
12. - Dragon boating was not for me,
13. - Learned calculus, Spanish, the guitar, more Japanese, economics, and business fundamentals. Rewarding, frustrating, fascinating, applicable, inspring. A lesson in effective time use.

This year is a time to practice what I've learned, and pay attention to make sure I do justice to the insights gleaned from some rough lessons. It's a time to use my time more effectively, but
  1. - Show some geek pride,
  2. - Hit on people or othervise initiate a display of romantic/sexual/kinky interest,
  3. - Don't stress over school. If I have to break myself to get into grad school, then grad school is not the place for me.
  4. - Be a good leader, practice active listening to facilitate cooperation between rival factions,
  5. - Get enough exercise to improve mood,
  6. - Cut down on fat, salt, sugar, and inorganics, especially unethicals,
  7. - Become aquainted with permaculture
  8. - Continue lucid dreaming experiments and chasing of ASC (Altered States of Consciousness),
  9. - Acknowledge, then bypass misplaced anxieties and feelings of shame,
10. - Sort out what is needed for me to concentrate more thoughroughly on text,
11. - Be more direct
12. - Spend less time on the computer. I licked the TV habit; this should be doable too. The key is to do more things that I also really enjoy, like arts and crafts, socializing, kink, exercise. All the wrok and school shoulrd keep me pretty busy too!
13. - Change sex.... I think.

So. Since to fail to plan is to plan to fail, I need to sort out exactly how I'm going to do this, and what's most important.

In other news: to date, four people have stated that "Sasha" doesn't sound, or simply isn't, an androgynous name. Two said it's a boy's name; two, a girl's.

If I'm not on that list, I should tell you that Sasha has only ever been a female name to my mind.

Whereas -- in case I'm not on that list -- I have met (apart from yourself) just one female Sasha, alone among at least a dozen male ones. The male Sashas were all human; the female was a cat.
