Part of this is due to the rabbits. When people said "there are rabbits everywhere and they're really docile," I figured that I would see the odd shape moving in the bushes, but this is not the case. There are multiple rabbits on any given open patch of grass, idly munching. You can walk right up to them and they will ignore you. It's like they've been lobotomized (except I'm not sure if rabbits have a lobotomize-able forebrain). It took me a few hours to realize this - like this, they aren't really rabbits, but fuzzy grass-eating lumps.
