Punishment is a means to an end. Guilt is punishment of and by the self. Guilt accomplishes nothing in and of itself.

Punishment is not as subtle as precise a tutor as reward. Nor, from a utilitarian perspective, is it good in and of itself; rather, it is quite the opposite.

The world is unjust. The world is just. Seen injustice breeds guilt, which, if it begets nothing, is a form of injustice itself.

To be guilty about injustice without changing action is an injustice inflicted upon oneself and on the world through oneself.

The solution is obvious but elusive; a quick and subtle thing in the corner of one's I.
