"Happy Tranny Day"
Was awesome. Stupendous.
They managed to gather more T*-involved people, and with a greater variety, than I've ever seen in one place, into Heritage Hall.
Friends. Transsexuals. Children. Genderqueers. Drag monarchs. Hundred-yarders. Lovers. Questioning. Sort-ofs. Family. None-of-your-business. Allies. More-than-one-of-the-above.
No qustions. Friendly atmosphere. No money? No problem. Celebratory mood. Smiles. And there were workshops, and food, and performances. And notices of upcoming events that need volunteers. And tables with questions for you to write or draw answers in crayon.
Please understand, after watching organizing in the Trans scene over the last couple of years, I did not think that I would ever see anything like this. Ever. Let alone this uplifting. Let alone here. Let alone now.
And yet there it was out of the blue.
Well not "out of the blue." A lot of people spent a lot of time busting their ass to put that thing on. But I'd been busy and not heard about all the work that went into it.
This was intese. It feels like victory. I had to take off my glasses because I had to wipe the tears away.
Holy. Shit.
The AGM of the Trans Alliance Society is on May 10th. Anyone can come. Anyone can be a member. This is an organization with a real future, not just for itself, but for others.
*The secretary, president and treasurer have to identify as trans, whatever that means to them. Other than that, it's open. And like I said, it's changing.
I also swapped phone numbers with a lovely lass after dancing. This has never happened before.
