This semester, I've come to understand how research and publishing tend to function, and have concluded that, while I will be finishing my Post-Bac, I need to get the hell out of the Arts department, and into something where what you need to study and know is concise, definable, quantifiable and/or directly applicable. Medicine. Planning. Business. Even fine and performing arts would suffice. Shit.

[edit] research problems, AKA how to get ahead in Acadamia
- professional articles are just summaries of a whole bunch of other papers
- "groundbreaking" articles that just state the fundamental assumptions of a related discipline
- reaching a conclusion and then farming out the proof to grad students
- prioritizing referencing other authours over one's own experience (ad infinitum references anyone?)
