Hypothesis:
The happiest times in my life, and the most satisfying, have often coincided with my participating in an institutional environment.

Happy places I've lived:

SFU Residence
Psi Upsalon
Galiano film
With Bailie and Erica
Uvic Conference centre

Not as rewarding, but still "shared:"

Kolej Komenskeho, Prague
Bratislava
Budapest
School of theology
WWOOF

Rewarding Work:

Walking Feet Productions
Doubleplusgood
SFSS

Some sculpture?
Delivery?

Less so:

Vending
Restarant

Things that make me happy in environments include:
- Walking around at night without scads of cars
- Greenspaces
- Organization
- Having a private space within larger shared spaces
- Spacious common spaces (not musty)
- Quiet
- Share meals or meal-spaces
- Interesting conversations with neighbours.

When I hear about the cloisters, the military, and some remote work sites, I sometimes feel envious. And while I have a great interest in intentional communities, many of them simply do not work for me.

I think I would like to live in an shared institutional environment. Not any old intentional community, but something with the above factors. And without giving up ties to the rest of the world. How to pull that off? Any old gigantic buildings for sale, cheap?
