I am playing in the 7th Sea Larp, administered by Jeffrey Sandison and Daniel Kawasaki.
7th Sea is set in a fantasy world stylistically akin to 17th century European adventures and romances, full of swashbucklers, intrigue, and sorcery.
The last event was $20. This included administrative support, props, set, space, dinner and dessert. It was well worth it.
Everyone was in costume. Everyone had a character and stayed in character. There were obsessedtomb robbers archaeologists, daring swashbucklers, deadly swordswomen, stealthy highwaymen, rich merchants, cunning ladies, imperious lords, learned doctors, mad intventors, womanizing captains, foreign princesses, astute butlers, witty wenches, reckless explorers, secretive sorceresses, and one crossdressing corsair!
This evening was a social event. There will also be events that focus more on beating each-other with padded sticks - you can attend one or both.
I strongly reccommend it.
And if you want your character to be somehow related to the story of Rüt Groebbek, Vendel* corsair, bride avenged, and secret caster of runes to old gods, you know where to find me.
*The Vendel are modeled relative to the Dutch
