I use itunes on my Windows 2000 machine. I don't know what you mean by "free". I didn't have to pay for it to download it. Itunes has been completely reliable.
I would use iTunes if you weren't too worried about quality--change the encode settings from AAC to MP3 before you do so though, or you won't get mp3s.
If you want the hardcore, best quality but no instructions open source hax0r option, Exact Audio Copy is the best thing out there.
but wondering if you might want to add me as a friend. I am on Avanbarb's friend list and really enjoyed your public entries. sucks about what the CFS did about your blog. I am not a CFSer - but am part of the editorial collective of Upping the Anti that published that CFS article. did you read it? what did you think?
"Your story checks out?" Wow. Dealing with the Fed is making me paranoid.
Someone came into our office on Friday when I wasn't around, asking to volunteer in the disaffiliation campaign.
I'd seen him before, giving away free Fed stuff in a place that SFU insists that everyone has to have a vendor's permit. He wouldn't leave. I asked him if he was an SFU student. He said he was. I asked him what department hes was in. He said 'sociology.' (I graduated from that program). I asked him who his profs were. He balked, and said 'actually I'm from Thompson Rivers - I'm on the CFS Exec.'
Turns out I'd met him before in September at the meeting from hell.
Anyway. I read the Caelie's article. I liked it. It was concise and proved its point that the CFS was no good. I (heart) concision. This said, it seemed overly targeted on radical students in light of its claims. If the CFS is useless, this makes it ineffective across the board, regardless of political stripe. I didn't find that her article sufficiently demonstrated how the Fed was bad for radicals in particular.
Love the Upping the Anti by the way. I really liked the trans and anti-racism articles in the last one.
i think the CFS is quite useful for the more liberal or social democratic folks who want to get a training ground for the NDP in the future. but yeah, the big questions is: if not the CFS, then what? can there be a different radical student movement that is national? this is the same questions with the feminist movement as well. glad you liked uta. you wanna write a letter about the cfs article??
