You seemed to do a rather good job of talking to me, except that you assumed that your life would sound weird to me, and thus you were needlesly apologetic (which, given your life, may actually make sense with normal people... but really how many normal people do you really know?)
And the 'emotionaly close' thing... I sometimes think its a bit over-rated. I think its important to be able to do that with one or two people (and if those people are family, that's fine), but I don't think its really very important to do it with generic 'people', or even most friends.
