A Big Box zone on SE Marine Drive will create more traffic and air pollution, increase asthma rates in children, generate more greenhouse gas emissions, and drive small neighbourhood stores out of business.
Together, Vancouverites can tell City Council they won’t give up -- no matter how many times Wal-Mart, Home Depot and other Big Box stores try and come back. Wal-Mart and other big box stores in Vancouver will hurt our neighbourhoods. A Big Box zone on SE Marine Drive will create more traffic and air pollution, increase asthma rates in children, generate more greenhouse gas emissions, and drive small neighbourhood stores out of business.
Wal-Mart and seven other mega-stores will come to SE Marine Drive unless City Council is persuaded to change the current Highway Oriented Retail (HOR) zoning.
It's the people of Vancouver who should decide what kind of neighbourhoods we want to live in; not corporate giants.
