Parallel world dream

The glider worked - I mean, I wasn't smeared on the ground. But interdimensional travel? Here I am at a library and I have no idea where to start. This universe seems similar to ours, except that the Americans have built up next to the border and the Mexicans haven't.

So I go to an internet cafe - I can check my own email in this parallel. Wait, haven't all the computers I've seen used CRTs? And there are lineups for terminals. No-one has laptops.

I find one free. The owner gives me a discount because I have to leave soon, and he hopes I leave for his bed, in the back. Won't get his arm off of mine. Strange to be hit on so publicly and rudely by a man while I'm dressed ambiguous.

Someone I know from film comes along. The owner leaves. I ask for help - their computers my be large and clunky, but their keyboards are slick - eight main buttons and a series of keys you tweak with your thumbs.

"I only know qwerty and dvorak" I say, fishing my laptop out for reference. She has never seen a qwerty, and assumes it's some high-tech innovation.
