I'm drawing out the world map for the near-future game. I want to a have a Gilead-lite region of North America, which has partially or wholly succeeded from the Continental Economic and Security Zone. I'm trying to sort out whether Alberta, or even parts of BC would joinThere will be a socialist South American league, and an independent Quebec. What else would you folks like to see?

CASCADIA FOREVER!!!

That's Oregon, Washington, & BC, more or less. I say when the continent starts going bugfuck, all the blue-staters, pagans and pot smokers move into the area and secede.

But Vancouver (or maybe Victoria) needs to be a free city, not owing direct alliance to any political group but tolerated by all as its a good 'no-mans-land' for trade and diplomacy.

mmm.... There needs to be something to differentiate Vancouver from other cities, and something seedy would be good. Perhaps it needn't be officially independant, but a port city that's out of the way enough to be seen as a non-threat. Why Victoria though?

Just in case you didn't want to go with Vancouver. I figured the geriatrics could retreat to Vancouver Island and hold it out against local powers (who are more than happy not to have to pay for their medical), and then the new disinfranchised generations in this geriatric paradise can easily introduce the seedy side, which the old folk don't care so much about since it does bring in money and adventure-tourists.

Also, as far as Cascadia goes, Northern California will want in as well. And why doesn't any one take Cascadia over (after all, it seems to be run by a bunch of lay about pot smokers)? Well, thats just because the fungal inteligences are running it through their psychotropic connections Food of the Gods style.
