God is Lovejoy

If creationism is correct and the fossils are there to test our faith, then God is not so much an architect as Lovejoy. Lovejoy's the protagonist of this British TV series. He's an antquitarian with roots in con artistry; the sort of fellow who buys an old table in a rummage sale, then gilds, artificially ages and bangs it up so that it passes as having belenged to King Edward II, then sells it.

If the fossils are there to compromise our faith, then Satan did most of the work: God made the sky, the Earth and the Sun and a few plants and animals and then people; Satan made the rest - the stars in the sky, geological strata, fossils, oil, the speed of light, the rest of the universe....

This isn't about intelligent design, but origins. I often believe that the universe was made, but like a good building, it stands on its own without maintenence. A form of Deism I suppose. It's like a good OS: it runs from the void of installation without patches or crashing and the copyright date is genuine. Bill Gates may think he's God...

Hi

Yeah, I certainly like a univrse that was made: I'd like to make one myself one day. I don't know if mine would have a speed of light, though: I think everyone would jst carry flashlights.
