The rules used to be pretty much the same here in Australia. Then last year (before the conservatives got voted off the island) some fatheaded minister went and changed the policy, so we can't get the temporary passports in the correct gender anymore. And it was real sly, the community didn't even find out for months until Natalie Imbruglia's cousin went to get surgery in Thailand. Lame, huh?
